There are very few activities specifically dedicated to the protection of transgender people in trade unions. This makes it necessary to pay greater attention to this issue, mostly by increasing knowledge on the subject and enhancing the scope of action that unions could have in fighting discrimination based on gender identity.
- Publicize on LGBT+ sites, magazines and forums, your trade union advocacy for transgender people who are discriminated against at work.
- Participate in events and initiatives to show your union is a strong “actor” in the fight against discrimination based on gender identity.
- Support workers who have been discriminated against when they take legal action, to enhance the role of your union in the protection of everyone’s rights.
- Carry out training activities on issues related to gender identity for your collaborators at all levels, and/or for companies and employers. This will raise knowledge of the issue, as well as the perception of a strong presence of the union in the battle against discrimination.
